Heat comes first. Summers here run well above what Orange County sees, and a closed garage behind a west-facing steel door gets hotter still. That fades dark finishes faster than most homeowners expect, turns vinyl weather seals brittle, and puts opener circuit boards under real stress. Opener failures tend to spike in July and August.
Then there's the wind. The foothill cities, including Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, San Bernardino, Highland and Chino Hills, sit in some of the strongest Santa Ana wind corridors in the state.
